My Overall Learning Objectives 


Treaty Education Outcomes Gr. 12 outlined in the Saskatchewan Curriculum Guide

-          Assess students’ prior knowledge about the Treaty Relationship and how they have come to acquire the knowledge.

-          The ways in which that knowledge has shaped their beliefs about the Treaty Relationship

-          To identify ways in which the Treaty relationship has been misunderstood and the developments of myths and
misconceptions which have shaped national narratives through the media.

Treaty Relationships: (TR)
TR 12 Outcomes:

Examine one’s position regarding the importance of the Treaty relationship for the social, cultural and economic prosperity
of all Saskatchewan and Canadian people.

TR 12 Indicators:
Analyze what you believe about treaty relationships, why you believe it, and how you came to believe it.


Analyze how the media currently depicts the treaty relationship and determine the effects this has on public perception.

-          To be cognisant of the socio-cultural, historical and political contexts within which these Treaties where created.

To recognize the implications of colonial history in Canada and its contemporary manifestations in Canadian society (impacting the lives of Indigenous peoples).

Historical Context (HC)
HC 12 Outcomes:

Examine how treaties
within contemporary society
impact on individual’s lives.

HC 12 Indicators:         

Evaluate one’s actions according to personal beliefs nurtured through their understanding of Treaty making.

Analyze responses to treaties in current federal and provincial government policies.

-          To understand the meaning of the notion “We are All Treaty People.”

-          To recognize that White colonial settlers, Indigenous peoples and relatively new settlers, visible minorities are part of the Treaty relationship.

-          To recognize the importance of educating one’s self about the Treaty relationship.

TPP 12 Outcomes:
Represent personal understanding of the
concept, We Are All Treaty People
TPP 12 Indicators:
Examine the importance of decolonization as a process that supports the understanding that We Are All Treaty People

-          To reflect on ways in which as an individual
-          The students reflected on the misconceptions of the treaties
-          The students will interpret the myths in regards to the treaties
The students will learn about the spiritual nature of the treaties as well as the intent of the treaties 

Spirit and Intent of the Treaties

SI 12 Outcomes:

Investigate the values and beliefs of self, family, community, and society in relation to the importance of honouring the
Spirit and Intent of treaties.

SI 12 Indicators:

Reflect on and discuss personal experiences in honouring Treaty principles.
